Welcome to the TOUGH2/TOUGHREACT Training Site
Two short two-day courses on TOUGH2 and TOUGHREACT will be offered on December 2-5, 2008 at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory by members of the TOUGH2/TOUGHREACT development team (Karsten Pruess, Michael Kowalsky, Tianfu Xu, and Nicolas Spycher).
The training course will consist of two parts. Part 1 (December 2-3) will cover TOUGH2 while Part 2 (December 4-5) will be devoted to TOUGHREACT. The emphasis in both parts will be on hands-on training on PCs in the application of the simulators to actual flow problems. The two parts are independent. Interested participants may register for either Part 1, or Part 2, or both. However, Part 2 (TOUGHREACT) will assume that participants have some familiarity and experience with multiphase flow in general and TOUGH2 in particular. People interested in TOUGHREACT who do not have prior TOUGH2 experience are strongly urged to register for Part 1 as well.
The course will be taught on interactive computing facilities at LBNL. Fees will cover handouts with input and output files for flow problems, access to the simulators on PCs, user's guides for the simulators, working lunches, refreshments, and a dinner. The course fee does not include licensing of the simulators themselves; participants who prefer to bring their own laptops will have to remove the simulators at the end of the course. TOUGH2 and TOUGHREACT can be licensed through DOE's Energy Science and Technology Software Center (ESTSC).
On Monday, December 1, preceding the TOUGH2 and TOUGHREACT training courses, Thunderhead Engineering will offer a course on PetraSim, a graphical user interface for TOUGH2 and TOUGHREACT. The course will be held in the Sibley Room of the Alumni House on the Berkeley campus. The course will begin at 1:00 and end at 6:00. For more information see www.petrasim.com.
