Word
Processing Template for Preparing Symposium Papers
Use
this template file to obtain the right text format for your TOUGH Symposium
papers. Once you have downloaded the template and opened a new Word document,
you can overwrite the text in the document with your own words.
Word for Windows Template (works for Word95, Word97,
and Word 2000)
We suggest using Internet Explorer when downloading this template.
-
Right click on this link: TEMPLATE
- Select
"Save Target As". Use the existing template name "TOUGH_symposium_template.dot"
and save in your Word "template" directory (i.e., Program
Files, Microsoft Office, Templates).
- Open
Word, use File/New and select "TOUGH_symposium_template" as
the document type. Use the pull-down menu when doing this (not "ctrl-n").
- Alternatively,
save the template at any location and start Word by double-clicking
on the template icon.
Do not try
to open the file TOUGH_symposium_template.dot
within Word -- you need to place the file in the "template"
directory.
When using the template, it is important to make use of the Word styles
for each type of paragraph, heading etc. Changing the font sizes, underlines,
bold face etc is then completely automatic. Changing font sizes by hand
usually results in an inconsistent appearance. When you paste charts
or figures into your document, please use "Paste Special" and
then paste as pictures. This avoids page overruns when we reprint
the document and store it on the CD (also makes the files more compact).
If
you have any questions or would like this template emailed to you instead
of downloading it from here, please contact Maria Atkinson at mefink@lbl.gov.
Send
electronic papers to safinsterle@lbl.gov.
