Biographical Summary

Kevin G. Knauss is a geochemist with over 30 years of professional experience.  He has a PhD in Geological Sciences from the University of Southern California.  He has published extensively in his areas of research interest including: solution thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, hydrothermal geochemistry, nano/micro-scale fluid-solid interface interactions, and uranium-series disequilibria.  He has 6 US and 2 World patents.  He applies a combined experimental and geochemical modeling approach to the study of complex problems in both the earth sciences and in multidisciplinary settings.  His current research focuses on inorganic and organic geochemistry and rock-water-gas interaction in energy-related, nuclear waste and environmental studies, especially as they relate to carbon sequestration and geothermal energy, and with an emphasis on the nano/micro-scale nature of fluid-solid interface interactions.

Research Interests

Solution thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, hydrothermal geochemistry, nano/micro-scale fluid-solid interface interactions, and uranium-series disequilibria.
