ESD Website Redesign
Over the past year, ESD staff have been working behind the scenes on a variety of improvements and modifications supporting web delivery of content and functionality in a user generated, standards-based and secure fashion. Over the next several months, ESD will migrate its entire web presence into the new system, with the new design (refer to the ESD home page).
In the long-term, you should expect to see:
- Improvements in content organization and management
- More frequent and timely updates with current content
- A cohesively branded website for ESD
- And more...
Some of our overall goals include:
- Providing efficient, user driven content management accessible to technical and non-technical users.
- Implementing a technical and web content oversight system to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Meeting or exceeding lab standards for security.
- Supporting file sharing and collaboration functionality.
- Enhancing communication within the Division and to our external visitors.
- And more...
Our priorities for FY09 are to:
- Migrate all content into the newly designed website
- Support new project page development
- Support existing webpage content updates
- Release the CMS tool to:
- Allow staff to create/update CV (resume) Staff pages
- Allow staff to update core content of the Division pages.
- Improve and evolve the CMS tool
- Provide publication data
There is a lot happening behind the scenes, as we implement hardware and software additions, enhancements and fixes and craft the architecture we will be using to support the division moving forward. To that end, we request your patience throughout this process and encourage you to contact us when you have any questions or concerns at esdwebmaster@lbl.gov. We look forward to your comments and questions.
