Site Description

The source of the wetland drainage conveyed by S-Lake Drain is from within the boundary of Kesterson National Wildlife Refuge. Drainage along S-lake drain is sluggish and almost always in a backwater condition. A SONTEK SL transducer is used in S-Lake Drain to obtain stage and drainage water velocity. During summer months stage may drop sufficiently to reveal the SONTEK acoustic velocity sensor. During these times discharge is typically close to zero. An electrical conductivity sensor is deployed at this site with a pulley system to facilitate monthly cleaning of the sensor.
