Geologic Carbon Sequestration Program Research Area:
Site Characterization
Fundamental to GCS projects is the assessment of the size, structure, permeability, porosity, and cap rock integrity of a proposed GCS site. Using a wide variety of data and analysis from the basin to borehole scale, including numerical reservoir simulation, ESD scientists contribute to accurate assessment of injectivity, capacity, trapping mechanisms, and long-term storage integrity of GCS sites.
