TOUGH2/iTOUGH2 Training Courses
September 12-16, 2011
Two Short Courses on TOUGH2 and iTOUGH2 will be offered on September 12–16, 2011 at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California, U.S.A., by members of the TOUGH development team (Stefan Finsterle, Michael Kowalsky, and Yingqi Zhang).
The training course will consist of two parts:
- Part 1: Basic TOUGH2 Training Course, 2 ½ days, September 12–14,
- Part 2: iTOUGH2 Inverse Modeling Training Course, 2 days, September 15–16
The emphasis in both parts will be on hands-on training on PCs in the application of the simulators to actual flow problems. The two parts are independent. Interested participants may register for either Part 1, Part 2, or both. However, Part 2 (iTOUGH2) will assume that participants have some experience in numerical simulation using the TOUGH2 nonisothermal multiphase flow simulator. People interested in iTOUGH2 who do not have prior TOUGH2 experience are strongly urged to register for Part 1 as well.
The course will be taught on computing facilities at LBNL. Fees will cover handouts with input and output files for flow problems, access to the simulators on PCs, user’s guides for the simulators, working lunches, refreshments, and a dinner. The course fee does not include licensing of the simulators themselves; participants who prefer to bring their own laptops will have to remove the simulators at the end of the course. TOUGH2 and iTOUGH2 can be licensed.
