The Human Resources (HR) Department facilitates HR services for the Berkeley Lab Divisions by co-locating HR Centers (where possible). The ESD HR Center is located in Building 90 on the 2nd floor. You will be re-directed to access the majority of HR information hosted at the LBNL Human Resources Department web sites. By starting within these ESD-HR web pages, you will find specific HR processes that map to the business practices of the ESD. Contact ESD's HR Center for clarification of all human resources services.
Berkeley Lab’s on-line Affiliate Process was implemented in 2010. This replaced the Participating Guest Information form. Please refer to the ESD Affiliates Process Page for more information and a detailed walthrough of how to bring Affiliates to the Berkeley Lab, Earth Sciences Division.
In partnership with HR's Workforce Diversity Office, the ESD strives to foster a diverse workforce that is committed to conducting great science in line with the LBNL and DOE mission. Representatives from across the Lab serve on the Diversity Council to provide a Division perspective as well as report back to Division Management on various topics. You can find more information about the Division's involvement in Workforce diversity by reviewing the Lab's Workforce Diversity Office website.
In addition to the institutional resources (BLI, Employee Self-Service, etc.) and self-motivated (off-site training, etc.) opportunities for employee development, ESD has developed some training resources by harnessing in-house experts. A collection of employee development resources and other ESD opportunities can be found here.

Supervising and mentoring is a critical component to fostering the development of employees and junior members of the Division. ESD looks to its Senior Scientists to help mentor junior staff.
