As part of SES IV, interested participants have the opportunity to participate in hands-on data acquisition training sessions at beamlines at either the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (SSRL) or the Advanced Light Source (ALS) . The hands on sessions will be held on December 11th, 2008, from 9-4 pm and will provide valuable experience for new or novice users who would like to better understand the practical and theoretical aspects of a particular technique. Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from the beamline scientists who design, build, and operate the beamlines, and who are world leaders in synchrotron science.
The Hands on Session at both the ALS and SSRL Beamlines are FULL.
Two concurrent sessions will be scheduled: one at SSRL and one at the ALS. Participants will be responsible for providing their own transportation to either location. ALS is readily accessible from San Francisco and SFO by means of public transportation. Public transportation is also available to SSRL, but it is advisable to use rental or private car.
